Douglas Stratton, Principal Designer

Originally from Los Angeles, Douglas divided his time between the film set and the construction site. In the film industry, he spent over a decade lighting sets for commercials, music video, film and television for some of the Entertainment Industry’s biggest stars such as Tom Hanks, Celine Dion, Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Jackson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Andie MacDowell, Renee Zellweger, Mariah Carey, Adam Sandler, Heather Locklear, Toby Keith, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Madonna, Cindy Crawford, Willie Nelson, Bo Derek, Tom Petty and a host of others. The film industry proved to be a powerful influence of dramatic escapism, tireless work ethic and exposure to the plethora of creative minds and fascinating locations, whether real or built on a Hollywood sound stage.

On the construction site, Douglas designed and supervised a variety of upscale home renovations, apartment buildings and small businesses throughout the Los Angeles area. This set the stage for bigger projects and budgets before relocating to beautiful Asheville, NC with his wife Christina and their daughter Avery.

Now with his own firm, Stratton Design Group, Douglas designs Luxury homes, Interior environments for commercial and hospitality projects and works exclusively with Innovative Spa Management - a spa consulting firm, creating elegant spa projects with unforgettable atmospheres of serenity and calm. His understanding of mood, ambiance, character, lighting and functional design have proven to be a perfect match in the building design and hospitality industry.
